How does acupuncture help you stop smoking?
Acupuncture can help you to stop smoking by reducing the desire to smoke. After treatment, the taste of or the thought of having a cigarette often becomes unpleasant and distasteful.
Since acupuncture can be highly effective in calming and relaxing the mind, it can also help to relieve and prevent the withdrawal symptoms caused by nicotine addiction, such as mood swings, irritability, restlessness and poor sleep. In addition, acupuncture can help to diminish any resulting food cravings.
What is the treatment procedure?
Treatment involves the insertion of sterile, disposable needles into specific acupuncture points on the body and ear. After treatment, herbal press pellets are taped to the ear and remain in place for a few days in order to maintain the effectiveness of the treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
This is difficult to say, but in our experience it all depends on how motivated you are. We have had people who have quit after one or two sessions and others after three to five. However, we recommend that to successfully quit smoking you have two treatments during the first week followed by one in the second week. This is so that you have the most support in the most difficult period.
How much does it cost?
A treatment takes up to one hour and costs £35.
